Canadian Youth Business Foundation
General Information
YWCA Edmonton is pleased to be partnering with the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) to help young women achieve the dream of starting their own business.
CYBF is a national charity providing start-up mentoring, financing and business resources for young canadians age 18-34, to create their own successful business.
Founded in 1996, CYBF is truly unique. It's an organization that is all about dreams, energy and momentum. It's an organization that supports youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to realize their full potential and launch a business. It's an organization that is helping to drive the Canadian economy by leading the future development of youth entrepreneurship both domestically and internationally.
CYBF is an accredited member of Youth Business International , and has been recognized as one of the most efficient organizations of its kind globally. As such, CYBF is often called upon to mentor other countries with their youth entrepreneurship programs.
The Program
CYBF provides loans of up to $15,000 and online business resources that provide the foundation for new business start-ups. Additionally, what makes the critical difference between a new company's sustainable success and failure is the mandatory world-class mentoring system. CYBF individually recruits qualifies, interviews and trains every volunteer mentor with a hand-matched CYBF entrepreneur for a minimum of 2 years during the start-up period.
The Team
Successful Businesses are not developed alone. By working collaboratively through existing infrastructure, with the generous support from the private and public sectors, and with a network of more than 80 local Community Partners and more than 1,100 volunteers, CYBF delivers vital programs coast to coast in more than 1,300 communities.
The Results
Since 1996, CYBF has invested in more than 1,600 young entrepreneurs, whose businesses have generated more than $185 million in gross sales, $44 million in tax revenue $19 million in exports and more than 9,300 new jobs for local Canadian communities. This growth will continue as the foundation aims to launch one new business every day.
