Many Faces Of Loss
For those who have lost a significant person in their lives (e.g. mother, father, child, friend, aunt, etc.)
These are ten-week group programs for adults who are grieving the loss of an individual in their lives. Groups run once a week for 2.5 hours. Both an afternoon and evening group are offered depending on number of registrants.
The program will look at:
·What is grief?
·Grief reactions
·Remembering and dealing with feelings
·Taking care of yourself
·Ways to express our feelings
·Sharing of stories.
Participants in the program
will have the opportunity to achieve the following outcomes:
·Gain an understanding of what constitutes
a healthy grief process
·The importance of self-care and external
support
·Skills to use when dealing with future losses
·Have a safe place to explore their thoughts
and feelings.
Fees: A sliding fee scale based on total family
income is in place. The upper limit for
group is $200. There is also an intake fee of $20.

Family Violence
“It is every woman’s right to live free from abuse, or threat of abuse, particularly within the context of the family.”
Psycho-educational Support Groups
Our three phase program is a psycho-educational support group that focuses on personal growth and is geared towards women who want information, protection and the support necessary to achieve an end to the abuse in their lives.
Each group builds on the information and self exploration of the previous group. Groups meet weekly for 2 ½ hours for a 10-12 week period.
This programming is offered on a fee-for-service basis. Subsidies are available through support from the United Way, Capital Region and FCSS.
Phase 1 – Moving Beyond Abuse
Participants in the program will have the opportunity to achieve
the following outcomes:
·Gain knowledge regarding abuse and the impact on themselves
and their children
·Safety planning and options
·Healthy boundaries
·Power dynamics within relationships
·Resources in the community
·Have an opportunity to interact with other women impacted
by abuse.
Phase 2 – Self Awareness
Participants in the program will have the opportunity to achieve
the following outcomes:
·Gain knowledge regarding emotional and environmental blocks
to change
·Influence of societal attitudes and beliefs
·Concepts of self-care
·Relationships and sexuality
·Communication styles
·Have an opportunity for self exploration in a safe environment.
Phase 3 – Anger Management Conflict Resolution
·Gain knowledge regarding impact of anger-both
expressed inward and outward
·Costs and benefits of anger
·How to change their anger response
·Non-violent conflict resolution.
Outcome for Women & Their Families:
·Women who participate in the program will feel supported
and develop skills
that will assist to reduce the incidences of family violence.
·Women will develop personal action plans to eliminate abuse
in their life.
All forms of abusive behaviour are ways in which one human being
is trying to control or have power over another. These behaviours
can include, but are not limited to:
·Emotional or psychological abuse
·Isolation
·Intimidation
·Economic abuse
·Physical abuse
·Sexual abuse
Women Who Abuse In Intimate Relationships
This is a twenty-week group program for women who are abusive to their intimate partners whether male or female.
A prerequisite for the group is a thorough intake assessment and two individual assessment follow-up sessions in preparation for group work, including beginning to develop a SELF-CONTROL PLAN.
The cost of the twenty-week program is $250 plus $25 each for the three individual sessions. A flexible payment plan can be arranged.
