Tribute to Women of Distinction Awards Gala
Background
The YWCA Edmonton's Tribute to Women of Distinction Awards Gala was inaugurated in 1982, as a special project to celebrate the Edmonton YWCA’s 75th Anniversary. Since that time, hundreds of women have been nominated, and recognized for both their achievements and their significant contributions to our community. This important fundraiser for the YWCA Edmonton has grown significantly since its inception. There are now eleven awards categories, allowing for recognition of women in a variety of fields.
Steering Committee Position Duties
- The position will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in one or more aspects of the event such as Nominations, Silent Auction, Print Coordination, AwardsDinner,etc.
- This person will attend all regular committee meetings (usually monthly 1.5hour lunch meetings that increase in frequency as the event nears in June) andsubmit progress reports.
- The committee members are required to communicate fully to other committee members to ensure timely and accurate information, attend the Nominees’ Reception, and Awards Gala, respect committee deadlines forproduction of all aspects of the event and submit a final report and binder or file with information related to their area of responsibility.

- Meetings at the YWCA Edmonton
- 100, 10350 -124 Street (wheelchair accessible)
Time Commitment
- Ability to attend 1.5 hour lunchtime
meetings at the YWCA office
(usually Thursday,beginning in September) - Ability to attend Nominees’ Reception (late May or early June)
- Ability to attend Awards Gala (third Thursday in June)
