Y-Knit
Since May 1988, individuals have donated yarn to the YWCA’s Y-Knit program. Volunteers knit or crochet mitts, toques, scarves, blankets and other items, in their own homes, on behalf of the agency. These finished items are sorted and distributed to shelters, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other groups in Edmonton.
The generosity of yarn donors and knitters has impacted the lives of many Edmontonians who have received one of the items. Anyone wishing to participate in the program is invited to contact the Volunteer Manager.
Skills required:
- ability to knit/crochet independently, patterns are provided.
Location:
- supplies available at YWCA for Y-Knitters,
- donated yarn/finished items can be picked up at the volunteer’s residence.
