Frontline. It’s a word we’ve all heard a lot during the last seven months. The men and women who risk their health to look after our communities are real heroes. Have you considered that there are hidden frontline workers? Sounds a bit paradoxical doesn’t it, but consider the support workers of YWCA Edmonton’s disabled community.
March 16, 2020 is a date our community won’t soon forget.
It was the day when it became very clear the COVID-19 crisis had reached our borders and every single Canadian was now being urged by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to stay home indefinitely to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.
It was also the day I started my new role as the CEO at the YWCA Edmonton.
During these uncertain times as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, our foremost concern is the health and safety of our staff and all those we serve in our community.We have made the decision to shut down our in-office operations as of yesterday.
